Hybrid Rocket Design

Hybrid Rocket Design

Hybrid Rocket Design is the successor program to H III Star Shot (Hybrid Impulse Improvement Initiative). In 2019, the team started H III Star Shot, which has three stages. The first stage was to study the optimized mathematical model for solid fuel grain that is used in hybrid rocket motor. The team came up with several designs of fuel grain, which are 3D printed, and built the rocket housing and the nozzle. We are now ready for the second stage, which is to design and build a hybrid rocket motor. The specific objectives in the Hybrid Rocket Design program are to build the hybrid rocket motor, to test feasibility, functionality, and performance of solid fuel grains, to build a complete hybrid rocket, and to represent CSET at High Power Rocketry events held by NAR (National Association of Rocketry). The Hybrid Rocket Design program will also serve as a hub to connect, motivate, and inspire all students who are interested in aerospace engineering. Furthermore, with the new trend in aerospace engineering, reusable and low-cost commercial rockets are in high demand. The Hybrid Rocket Design program has potential to deliver alternative solution to this ever-increasing market in private sectors.
